PLEASANTON, CA — A backyard gala fundraiser in Pleasanton recently raised more than $41,000 for the Valley Humane Society. Gina Piper, who serves as the Board Chair of Valley Humane Society, and Shawn Farrell hosted the fifth annual Party for the Pooches on Sept. 22.

Piper said more than 225 guests attended.

Piper said, “As a member of the Pleasanton community for more than 40 years and a Board member of the organization for six years, I am sincerely grateful for the support and generosity of my community. Our fifth annual fundraiser goes on record as our most successful. The donations we received for the raffle and silent and live auctions were incredible. And, the donations of amazing food, wine and desserts made the event a truly memorable gala. As a passionate owner and lover of companion animals, I am honored to play a role in supporting the efforts of Valley Humane Society,” Piper continued, “Dedicated committee members include Ali Hall, Susan Dees, Tami Hennegan, Dale Carrillo, Michelle Mikatarian, Viviana Cherman, Grace Nash, Deb Covert and Christine Kyle. Their incredible support made this event the success that it was, and I extend my sincerest appreciation for their time, effort and commitment.”

Melanie Sadek, Executive Director of Valley Humane Society, commented, “We are thrilled with the outcome of this meaningful fundraising event. Events like this provide financial support to help offset Valley Humane Society’s lifesaving work. The money raised at this event will help cover animal care costs like age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and other necessary expenses associated with providing care for more than 600 animals a year.”
