Pedestrian Suffers 'Major Injuries' After Hit-And-Run On 580: CHP

Police are searching for both a driver suspect, and to investigate reports that a pedestrian was seen wandering on 580 around 3 am Monday.

PLEASANTON, CA — The California Highway Patrol is requesting public help to locate a suspect in a major hit-and-run crash that took place Monday morning on Interstate 580, near Hopyard Road.

CHP received reports at around 7:47 a.m. Monday of a Latino man laying on the asphalt shoulder adjacent to the concrete wall on I-580 westbound, east of Interstate 680, according to a department news release.

Crews arrived ten minutes later and saw a man lying on the ground with major injuries. Investigators determined that the crash was a solo vehicle vs. pedestrian hit-and-run, and the driver left the scene and drove west.

Initial reports also claimed that a pedestrian was seen at around 3 a.m. in a nearby location, walking in lanes of traffic on I-580 and wearing black clothing. Crews searched the area at that time and were unable to locate any pedestrians, CHP said.

Anyone with information who saw a pedestrian around the I-580/I-680 intersection around that time, or has information on the driver, is asked to call Dublin CHP at 925-828-0466.
