Pleasanton Driver Arrested, Accused Of Causing 5-Vehicle Crash While Drunk

Police arrested a driver accused of causing a large crash on the intersection of Sunol Boulevard and Bernal Avenue.

PLEASANTON, CA — A driver was arrested on suspicion of causing a five-vehicle collision while drunk, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

On Sunday, Jan. 18, officers responded to a multi-car collision at the intersection of Sunol Boulevard and Bernal Avenue, according to PPD Lt. Nicholas Albert. The investigating officer determined that the driver who caused the collision showed signs of impairment, and they were placed under arrest on DUI charges.

Other involved parties reported minor injuries, Albert said.

The day before, a police car with its lights and sirens activated responding to an emergency call was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Division and Fair streets. The officer and involved driver were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests were made. That collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
