Pleasanton Military Families Christmas Packout moves outdoors
Due to Covid-19, the Veterans Hall was not available for the Christmas packout. They were able to move the packout to the pavilion behind the Chapel on Vineyard Avenue of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Unfortunately, the number of volunteers had to be restricted to 50, to maintain social distancing, and the setup began at 7am, rather than being set up the afternoon before as it normally is, but twenty PMF members gathered and had everything set up and ready to go when the rest of the volunteers arrived to pack the boxes. Several military moms spoke about their sons, several which were in Afghanistan. Chris Miller, founder of PMF, who was recently honored with the annual Mayor’s Award spoke to the group and expressed his gratitude for their support.

With the Veterans Hall locked up tight, we were in a quandary on what to do...
It was perfect! There was ample parking to start with. LOL, that was a treat compared to downtown parking by the Veterans Hall. This location allowed us to pack outdoors and keep a safe distance from each other during this unprecedented year of COVID. Please be assured, we were compliant with wearing masks and we had sanitizer and gloves available. We used every table for set up and packing. It was such a treat to be able to visit with military families that hadn’t been together in person for months and to hear updates on their military loved ones! It did us all a world of good.
Afterwards we enjoyed a simple “no touch” served breakfast buffet together, properly spaced apart and yet able to visit and relax after our good work.
Use of the pavilion by the Pleasanton Military Families this holiday season allowed us to do our favorite job, creating care packages for our deployed troops. Today we packed 150 boxes for our troops far away from home this Christmas.
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas and Thank You!
God bless you all.
