Pleasanton Nonprofit Seeks Volunteers to Support Cancer Patients

The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation is looking for volunteers to fill flexible, remote roles.

The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation is recruiting new Care Team volunteers to support and connect with cancer patients in Alameda and Contra Costra counties. This volunteer opportunity is remote and has a flexible time commitment of about one to two hours per month, plus three video conference meetings per year.

Established in Pleasanton in 2008, the Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation has issued more than 1700 grants to local cancer patients to help them access five complementary healing therapies: acupuncture, acupressure, guided/visual imagery, deep breathing meditation, and therapeutic massage. As the organization’s founder, Sandra Wing, experienced firsthand during her cancer journey, these therapies can help alleviate the toxic side effects of chemotherapy and radiation.

Everyone who receives a grant from the foundation has an assigned Care Team volunteer. Volunteers check in regularly by phone or email to answer questions about the foundation’s services and provide support and encouragement.
