At this week's Pleasanton North Rotary Club meeting, the club's annual youth speech contest was held. Congratulations to winner Andy Li!

At this week's Pleasanton North Rotary Club meeting, the club’s annual youth speech contest was held. There were five outstanding participants—coincidentally all from Foothill High School here in town this year--who clearly worked very hard to prepare for their five-minute presentations. Students presented their speeches in front of Club members on Friday, January 6th.
First Place Winner Andy Li will advance to the next round and speak at the regional contest to be held at the Tri-Valley Rotary Club meeting on March 16th from 5:30pm at Castlewood Country Club here in Pleasanton.
Final Results:
1st Place - Andy Li - $100 prize
2nd Place - Mikayla Tran - $50 prize
3rd Place - Samantha Do - $25 prize
Participant - Justin Huang
Participant - Daniel Costa

Of the things we say and do:
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
PNR and other Rotary Clubs in District 5170 sponsor the Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest with three objectives in mind:
1. To help young people know the importance of speaking effectively before a group;
2. To expand public knowledge, especially among young people, of what Rotary is and does throughout the world;
3. To allow high school students the opportunity to compete for $1,550.00 in prize money. The money is awarded with “no strings attached,” but it is hoped it will be used to further the student’s education.
Again congratulations to all participants for their efforts and speeches. PNR Club members were all very impressed.
