Pleasanton Police Arrest a Man Charged with Possession of Stolen Bikes

After an undercover buy, police arrested and charged a Pleasanton man who had possession of stolen bicycles.

The Pleasanton Police Department arrested Pleasanton resident Zachary Royer, 30, on Wednesday after police officers found him to be in possession of stolen bicycles.

A theft victim looking through online listings found his stolen bicycle for sale on Craigslist and notified the police.

Police officers went undercover to buy the stolen bike and found Royer to be in possession of three other bicycles believed to have been stolen.

According to police, Royer has past criminal convictions from another county. He was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail.

One of the bicycles has been traced to the owner. Police are hoping to locate the owners of the two other bicycles Royer had. They are described as a men's 21-speed mountain bike and a men's 1-speed mountain bike.

Police are reminding citizens to always lock and secure bicycles since they are easy targets for thieves.  Garage doors should always be closed and bicycles should be registered with the City of Pleasanton. 

Bicycles should also have other makers such as an identification number or initials.
