Pleasanton Police Secure $150K Grant From Cannabis Tax Money

The grant will be used to improve traffic safety through increased enforcement and community education.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton Police Department was awarded $150,000 from the California Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program to support traffic safety initiatives.

The grant will fund a number of initiatives dedicated to improving traffic safety in Pleasanton, including:

  • A fully-equipped police vehicle dedicated to the Traffic Unit and DUI patrol
  • A new police motorcycle to enhance proactive patrol and traffic safety efforts
  • A DUI checkpoint during the holiday season in December
  • Community outreach and education campaigns about the risks of impaired driving

“Keeping our roadways safe remains one of our top priorities,” said Lieutenant Chris Niederhaus. “This grant allows us to expand our resources, strengthen impaired driving enforcement, and continue protecting the community from the dangers of DUI-related collisions.”
