Pleasanton woman earns statewide certification

Kristina Alvarez with Community Association Management in Pleasanton, Calif., has earned the statewide designation of Certified Community Association Manager (CCAM®) from the California Association of Community Managers (CACM) for the third quarter of 2014. The CCAM is the only California-specific certification awarded to professionals working in the community association management field in California.

Alvarez joins 40 other professionals in California who earned the CCAM designation this quarter.

Over the past several weeks, CACM has conducted a consumer awareness campaign throughout the Bay Area to inform residents living in a homeowners association about the value of working with community managers who hold the CCAM designation. The CCAM is awarded to California community managers who have completed CACM’s educational curriculum program focusing on California law, ethical standards and best practices for community association management.

“Professionals like Kristina act as champions for their communities and have tremendous responsibilities for the residents they serve,” said Karen Conlon, president and CEO of CACM. “They guide volunteer HOA boards through complicated issues such as finances, state legislation and dispute resolution, while overseeing all aspects of property maintenance. The CCAM certification process prepares community managers for these tasks, which require a broad set of technical and interpersonal skills to effectively manage homeowners associations in today’s environment.”

Based in Laguna Hills, Calif., CACM is the only community association management organization in the nation to offer a California-only educational program leading to the designation of Certified Community Association Manager (CCAM®) and Master of Community Association Management (MCAM®) for industry professionals.
