'Armed And Dangerous' Men Sought In Pleasanton Bank Robbery

The bank robbery-turned-shooting-turned-carjacking reported in Pleasanton is under investigation.

PLEASANTON, CA — Police in Pleasanton are investigating a bank robbery-turned-shooting-turned-carjacking in town and are asking for the public's help finding the suspects. The robbery was first reported at Wells Fargo Bank located at 4967 Hopyard Road at 10:41 a.m. and involved three or four male suspects, police said.

Shortly after the robbery, a police officer spotted the suspects fleeing the scene in a GMC Yukon, according to authorities.

"At the intersection of Inglewood Drive at Hopyard Road, the suspects discharged a rifle at the officer’s patrol vehicle through the rear window of the Yukon," Pleasanton police said in a news release after the incident. "The front windshield and hood of the patrol car were struck by rifle rounds, disabling the patrol vehicle."

Then, at 10:57 a.m., the suspects carjacked someone in a brown Honda CRV, police said. That happened in the area of Muirwood Drive and Hillview Court.

"The suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle on Muirwood Drive towards Springdale Avenue," police said. "The Yukon was abandoned at the scene of the carjacking."

Though multiple police agencies searched the area for the suspects, they were not found, police said. The officer who was in the vehicle was later transported to the hospital, but released.

Pleasanton police said the suspects are considered "armed and dangerous" and were last seen in the stolen CRV, which has a license plate of 5USY995.

Several Pleasanton intersections were temporarily closed as a result of the investigation.
