Police and Fire Beat: Bicycles Taken and Garage Fire Reported Last Week

A list of notable incidents from July 12 to July 19.

Last week, a number of bicycle thefts were reported. On July 14, Police arrested a 3o-year-old Pleasanton man for possession of stolen bikes. A garage fire was also reported last week. An 86-year-old man who was in the home during the fire was unhurt after officials helped him to safety.

Monday, July 12

  • A 55-year-old woman had a biking accident on one of the Augustin Bernal Park trails. The woman injured her elbow, arm and hip. 
  • A traffic accident was reported at 12:51 p.m. on southbound I-680 and Castlewood exit involving a gray sedan.
  • A miscellaneous fire was reported on the 1700 block of Santa Rita Road. A box to the rear of a Chevron gas station was reportedly on fire.

Tuesday, July 13

  • A residential burglary was reported at 6:01 p.m. on the 1800 block of Tanglewood Way.
  • A commerical burglary was reported at 3:09 p.m. at the location of Nob Hill Foods. The police department said this was a case of copper wire theft taken at the building, which closed earlier this year.
  • Theft, burglary from an automobile was reported at 5:29 p.m. on the 4600 block of Hacienda Drive.
  • A traffic accident was reported at 10:55 p.m. on the 4300 block of Rosewood Avenue.
  • A traffic accident was reported at 6:34 p.m. on the 6600 block of Calle Altamira. The accident involved a pickup truck and a bicyclist.
  • A garbage can was reportedly on fire at 10:23 p.m. on the 7800 block of Olive Court.

Wednesday, July 14

  • Bicycle theft was reported at 02:20 a.m. on the 3400 block of Andrews Drive.
  • Auto burglary was reported at 10:07 a.m. on the 7000 block of Commerce Circle.
  • Auto burglary was reported at 2:04 p.m. on the 6300 block of Paseo Santa Maria.
  • A traffic collision was reported at 1:44 p.m. on the intersection of Ray Street and Walnut Drive involving a bicyclist and a vehicle.
  • A garage fire was reported at around 4:30 p.m. on Tulipwood Circle. The fire caused $175,000 in damages and there were no reported injuries.
  • Police arrested a 30-year-old man for possession of stolen bicycles.

Thursday, July 15

  • A residential burglary was reported at 12:21 p.m. on the 2400 block of Raven Road. A bicycle valued at $2,000 was reportedly taken.
  • A theft was reported at 2:08 p.m. on the 1500 block of Stoneridge Mall Road.
  • A traffic accident accident was reported at 6:23 p.m. on the intersection of W Las Positas Boulevard and Fairlands Drive involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
  • A garbage can and fence were reported to be on fire at 10:19 p.m on the 4400 block of Seminole Way.

Friday, July 16

  • Theft was reported at 4:20 p.m. on the 2100 Stoneridge Mall Road.
  • A traffic accident was reported at 12:48 a.m. on eastbound I-580 and Foothill Road involving a motorcycle.

Saturday, July 17

  • A bicycle theft was reported at 11:54 p.m. on the 2100 block of Armstrong Drive.
  • A traffic accident was reported  at 10:21 a.m. on westbound I-580 and Hopyard Road involving two vehicles.

Sunday, July 18

  • An auto burglary was reported at 8:45 p.m. on the 5200 block of Forest Hill Drive. 
  • A traffic accident was reported at 10:43 a.m. on Hopyard Road and I-580 involving two vehicles.
