Police Log: Facebook-Fueled Teen Party Turns Ugly; Plus Bicycle Thief Thinks 'Safety First'

Notable incidents encountered Aug. 5 to 11

A teen party -- that grew in size due to social-media buzz -- went awry last week, ending with one arrest for property destruction, one citation for alleged underage drinking and two damaged vehicles.

Officers responded Wednesday night to a residence on the 6000 block of Kolb Ranch Road where "large numbers" of teens gathered for a party they learned of through postings on such social-networking sites as Facebook, according to the .

In the melee, a 19-year-old Pleasanton man was arrested for allegedly cracking a vehicle's windshield, reports state.

Another car, belonging to an unidentified individual in attendance, had its front and rear windows smashed and three tires flattened, according to police files. No suspect was identified in connection with that incident.

An adult who resided at the address, meanwhile, was cited by police for hosting an underage drinking party, reports state. However that person's age or relationship to partygoers was not available.

Also last week, a thief not only swiped a pricey bicycle, but also apparently put "safety first" as he added protective gear to his loot.

A $2,000 men's red Fuji bicycle was reported stolen Thursday evening from a home's garage on the 4000 block of Nevis Street, according to records.

Also reported missing: a $100 bike helmet; a $40 pair of riding gloves; and a $30 repair kit.
