8 Arrested In Prostitution Sting By Pleasanton Police
Undercover officers used fictitious online profile advertisements designed to lure people seeking prostitution services.
PLEASANTON, CA — A prostitution sting conducted by the Pleasanton Police Department has resulted in eight arrests, including one Pleasanton resident. The operation took place Monday at a local hotel where undercover officers used fictitious online profile advertisements designed to lure people seeking prostitution services, according to police. "During the seven-hour operation, over 50 phone numbers contacted undercover officers in response to the online advertisements," the Pleasanton Police Department reported.
Seven men agreed to pay money for a sexual act and traveled to the hotel where undercover officers were waiting, the department continued. Another male, who identified himself as a pimp, contacted an undercover officer and tried to recruit her. "He made an agreement to offer protection and other services in exchange for a portion of the proceeds," according to the department.
All eight people were arrested for various crimes including solicitation of prostitution, resisting arrest and pandering and were booked at Santa Rita Jail.
