Ryan Biggee Earns Eagle Scout Award
For his Eagle project, Ryan and his team of Scouts restored 32 fire hydrants in and around downtown Pleasanton.
Ryan Biggee has qualified to become an Eagle Scout and received the award at an Eagle Scout Board of Review on March 27, 2024. Ryan is the son of Bonnie and Michael Biggee of Pleasanton, California. He is a member of Troop 941, sponsored by the Pleasanton VFW Post 6298. Many thanks go to his current and former Scoutmasters Patrick Markel and James McMillin for their dedication and help along the way.
Active in Scouting, Ryan has held leadership positions as Instructor, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. He was also the 2023 Twin Valley District Camporee Senior Patrol Leader and a High Adventure Triple Crown Award Recipient. Ryan believes Scouts BSA to be a phenomenal program that shapes the leaders of tomorrow, empowering youth to be the best versions of themselves, in accordance with the values outlined in the Scout Oath and Law.
For his Eagle project, Ryan and his team of Scouts restored 32 fire hydrants in and around downtown Pleasanton. The project involved site prep, removal of flaking paint and rust, and application of a fresh coat of paint. 19 scouts and four adults worked over two weekends with the help of a Maintenance Supervisor from the City of Pleasanton Public Works department, contributing over 190 service hours.

Ryan is a Junior at the Quarry Lane School in Dublin, California. His interests include mountain biking, hiking and robotics. He is a student council member and a mechanical department lead for his Robotics Competition Team. He is a member of the Quarry Lane Varsity Cross Country and Badminton teams.
In the future, he plans to give back to his troop, volunteering as an Assistant Scoutmaster, and pursue an undergraduate degree at a four-year university.

To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must be active in their troop, provide leadership, earn 21 merit badges including the areas of citizenship, camping, communications, cooking and lifesaving or emergency preparedness as well as demonstrate that they live by the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. They must also plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project benefiting a religious institution, school, or community group.
