Brutally Beaten Pit Bull Puppy Adopted, Sheriff’s Office Says
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said the dog, who suffered a broken jaw and bruises, endured hours of surgery after she was rescued.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — More than three months after being rushed into emergency surgery, a severely abused pit bull puppy named Allie was adopted in December, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office officials said. The dog, who allegedly suffered from a broken jaw and bruises all over her body at the hands of her former owner, endured hours of facial reconstructive surgery after she was rescued in September of 2017.
According to the sheriff's office, the puppy was repeatedly beaten with a weapon but was somehow able to escape. Concerned citizens found her in serious condition and brought her to the East County Animal Shelter. The puppy suffered from a fractured jaw, a missing tooth and extensive bruising on her back and hindquarters consistent with blunt trauma, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said.
The owner, Joshua Taddac, was arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty and has been free on $10,000 bail, according to the sheriff's office. Taddac will be back in court on Jan. 9 at 9:15 a.m.
