Pleasanton Targeted By PG&E Scammers
Pleasanton police released an audio recording of the scam calls and urged residents to be cautious.
PLEASANTON, CA — Scammers posing as Pacific Gas & Electric Co. representatives are seeking payment from Pleasanton residents, police warned Wednesday.
A robocall tells residents their service could be disconnected due to nonpayment and directs them to press 1 or call a phone number to speak with PG&E. PG&E does not ask for payment via gift card, the Pleasanton Police Department said.
Anyone who has doubts about the veracity of a call from someone purporting to represent PG&E may call PG&E's customer service number 1-833-500-SCAM (1-833-500-7226).
