Scott Haggerty Elected as New Board of Supes President
Haggerty will be the president of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors for the next two years.

Scott Haggerty has been elected in a unanimous vote of his colleagues to be the president of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors for the next two years, county officials said this week. Haggerty, who was first elected to the board in 1996 and was vice president the past two years, succeeds Supervisor Keith Carson as president. Supervisor Wilma Chan was elected to be the board’s new vice president.
Haggerty represents the first supervisorial district, which includes Fremont, Livermore, Dublin and unincorporated areas of eastern Alameda County. Chan represents district three, which includes Alameda and San Leandro, part of Oakland, San Lorenzo, Hayward Acres and part of Ashland. Haggerty is active on a number of regional boards and commissions, including the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, for which he formerly has served as chair and vice chair.
Haggerty said in a statement, “It is an honor to serve as president of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. We represent a vibrant and diverse population and serve a wide variety of needs here in the county. I look forward to serving this board and our constituents.”
