Sprouts & Shutters: CVS Pharmacy Applies to Build in Old TGI Friday's

The drug store is tentatively planned to open in 2014.

Another CVS Pharmacy will likely be sprouting up in Pleasanton. According to Pamela Ott, from the City of Pleasanton Economic Development Department, the pharmacy chain has applied to build a new store at 3999 Santa Rita Road in Pleasanton.

A CVS spokesperson says CVS is not yet commenting on the status of the CVS Pharmacy located at 4225 Rosewood Drive, just a short distance from the Santa Rita Road address.

"We are in the early planning stages for a new CVS/pharmacy on Santa Rita Road to open in 2014. At this time, we have no announcement regarding our current location on Rosewood."

The empty building currently at the new location was home to TGI Friday's for over 17 years before it closed in April of 2012.

According to Ott, the application is going through the approval process and that approval might be complete within the next month.

A new CVS Pharmacy opened a couple of weeks ago, on March 31, in the new Gateway Shopping Center on Bernal Avenue.
