Threat Found In Foothill High Bathroom Deemed 'Not Credible'

School officials investigated a shooting threat, which was scrawled on a bathroom wall.

PLEASANTON, CA — A threat written on a bathroom wall at a Pleasanton high school has been deemed "not credible," school district officials said. The graffiti threat was found in a Foothill High School bathroom Wednesday morning.

After investigating the incident, police said they determined that the threat was meant to be funny, according to school officials. Several students told Patch the threat put them on edge for the rest of the day.

"The graffiti discovered earlier this morning included a statement intended as a joke involving a school shooting," school officials said in an email.

Principal Sebastian Bull sent an email to Foothill families to alert them of the incident and a second email and phone call several hours later with an update from police and the outcome of the investigation.

Dear Foothill High School families,
The safety of our students and staff continues to be our highest priority. This morning, we were notified of graffiti in one of our restrooms that mentioned a possible threat at Foothill High School. We take all potential threats seriously and immediately reached out to the District Office and Pleasanton Police Department to investigate the credibility of the possible threat. We are in the process of continuing the investigation with the Pleasanton Police Department and will keep you informed as soon as we know more.
As always, we encourage any student, parent or staff to report anything you se that is concerning to a school administrator or the Pleasanton Police Department, “if you see something, say something”.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support,
Sebastian Bull
Principal
