Tri-Valley Women's March: Rally Calls For Political Engagement
Demonstrators will march Saturday afternoon through downtown Pleasanton, urging women to vote, volunteer, run for office and more.

PLEASANTON, CA — Demonstrators are scheduled to rally in Pleasanton Saturday to encourage women to vote, voluteer and run for office, and promote the importance of ensuring every Tri-Valley resident is counted in Census 2020 efforts.
This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the Constitution's 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, organizers say. It's also the 55-year anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, which prohibits discriminatory voting practices.
The march will begin at noon Saturday, at Amador Valley High School (1155 Santa Rita Road). Pets are not allowed, except for service dogs.

Activists and nonprofits will table from noon to 1:30 p.m. The rally will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., featuring speakers such as Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, Hayward City Councilmember Aisha Wahab, and others from organizations such as Planned Parenthood, Students for Social Change, Livermore American Indian Center, La Familia and more.
The march through downtown Pleasanton will begin at 2:15 p.m.

The Tri-Valley Women's March is organized by the Tri-Valley Women's Action group and is not affiliated with Women's March National, a liberal activism organization that organizes women's marches across the country. All donations to the Tri-Valley Women's Action group will go toward funding the march and fighting voter suppression, organizers say.
The march is associated with Students for Social Change and liberal groups such as Livermore Indivisible and Organize for Action East Bay.
