Trio Of Mail-Theft Suspects Busted In Pleasanton

Shaved keys and crowbars were among evidence collected by Pleasanton police.

PLEASANTON, CA — A citizen's tip led to the arrest last week of three individuals, who admitted to be on the prowl for mail and catalytic converters in Pleasanton, according to the police.

The case began when a resident called police Sept. 5 at approximately 1:30 a.m. reporting a "suspicious individual" fleeing after attempting to open a community mailbox on the 3900 block of Valley Avenue, the Pleasanton Police Department said.

"Our officers quickly tracked down the suspect who was accompanied by two individuals," police said. "They admitted to being in Pleasanton to steal mail and catalytic converters."

Among recovered evidence were shaved keys, crowbars and an assortment of tools, the department said.

After the arrest, the three were booked at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, authorities said, adding "Please don't underestimate the importance of being a good witness and/or cooperative victim."
