San Ramon Officer Frees Dog From Scorching-Hot Box Truck
A local resident alerted police to the barking of a "sweet boy," locked in the back of a closed truck as temps soared Thursday.
SAN RAMON, CA — Thanks to a local citizen and a San Ramon officer, a dog was rescued Thursday — after being locked in the back of a box truck in San Ramon as outdoor temperatures were hitting 85 degrees.
An area resident called dispatchers after hearing barking coming from a closed truck parked on Longleaf Circle, the San Ramon Police Department said. Responding to the call was Officer Tjahjadi.
"This sweet boy was 'liberated' ... by Officer Tjahjadi," police said, while sharing happy pooch pics on the department's Facebook page. "The dog was confiscated and is currently enjoying 'all the love' at the PD."

The dog's owner eventually was located and subsequently cited for animal endangerment, the agency said, adding that the individual's truck was towed for expired registration.
