Two Funny Women Rock Tommy T's on March 1

Headliner, Regina Stoops, along with newcomer, Stacey Gustafson, present a night of comedy to support Pleasanton Middle School PTSA.

Comic-Turned-Author meets Author-Turned-Comic

Regina Stoops was born and raised in a town called Normal, though her humor is anything but. She has her own unique perspective on what most might consider the mundane details of ordinary life: raising three boys, being married (or not), aging parents, health care, navigating the world of special education, mini-van motoring and the grocery store.

Regina’s comedic ramblings take a look at an ordinary life and redefine what it is to be normal.

On a Club Med vacation 100 years ago, Regina decided to try stand up during talent night. She got a few laughs and was hooked. From there she started doing open mic nights in San Francisco, and soon graduated to comedy clubs, corporate events and national conferences. Then she took a break to be a stay-at-home-mom to three boys, with her wife, Diane.

A New Normal

Having a son diagnosed with Autism changed Regina’s life and her humor. She now helps organizations who support the special needs population host Comedy Night fundraisers. She finds that parents and caregivers of persons with special needs often need a good laugh and appreciate being given permission to laugh at some of the absurdities that life can deliver.

These days, the comedian-turned-writer is chronicling her journey from Normal to where she is today in her new “normal” life.

Regina met Stacey Gustafson through a fellow PTSA mom at Pleasanton Middle School. Stacey, humor-writer-turned-standup-comic, has offered Regina insight into the world of writing and book publishing.

According to Regina, “It’s like one of those symbiotic relationships in nature between the crocodile and the bird that cleans its teeth without getting chomped….it’s mutually beneficial but Stacey and I have way more fun. And I’m not saying who the crocodile is and who the bird is….come to the show and try to figure it out.”

Stacey Gustafson is proud to be a city slicker from St. Louis; you know that place with the Arch. She is an Amazon bestselling author, humor columnist, and blogger living in the East Bay with her husband and two teenagers that provide an endless supply of inspiration.

Her stories about parenting and daily events like laundry, public restrooms, and being middle-aged have appeared in numerous books and online publications. Her accolades include being honored as the Erma Bombeck Humor Writer of the Month.

After she published her first book, Are You Kidding Me? My Life With an Extremely Loud Family, Bathroom Calamities, and Crazy Relatives, she dreamed of performing stand-up comedy.

Author to Comic in 3 1/2 Minutes

With encouragement from friends, she signed up for Open Mic at Tommy T’s Comedy Club and won Best Comic of the night. After a 3 ½ minute set, she was hooked and couldn’t wait for her next gig.

When Regina asked Stacey to make a special guest appearance at the Pleasanton Middle School Comedy Night, she jumped at the chance. Regina helped punch up her routine and smooth the rough edges of her set. http://staceygustafson.com/

Rounding out the show is Bay Area talent, Tramane Webb. Tramane is a comedian with an even-keeled delivery as he riffs on both intelligent and seemingly ridiculously funny topics. His witty observations and true-to-life stories will have you laughing your booty off. He has delighted the crowds in comedy clubs all over Northern California including Tommy T’s, The Purple Onion and Space 1582.

Together these three funny local entertainers are spreading the word for the Panther Comedy Night on March 1.
