In Wake of Recent Burglaries, Pleasanton Police Remind Residents to Lock Doors, Windows and Stay Alert

The burglaries have been occurring during 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to police officials. Police offer crime prevention tips.

Information provided by Pleasanton Police Facebook page:

In recent weeks, Pleasanton PD has seen an increase in daytime residential burglaries occurring between 10 am and 4 pm. The typical scenario is that one or more subjects approach a home, ring the doorbell, and wait for a response. If no one answers, the subject(s) wait outside for a short time and then either force entry through a side door (usually through the side garage door) or the front door.

If confronted, these subjects might be dressed in business attire and have a cover story such as door-to-door sales or marketing. It is likely the subjects have a getaway car parked in the area which is also likely to be occupied by a subject acting as a lookout. Residents are asked to stay alert to strange cars or people in their neighborhood. It is critical that residents call the police immediately, before calling anyone else, when reporting these circumstances.
