The housing laws, signed into law to address the California housing crisis, cover a wide range of issues including streamlining the approval process for new development applications and encouraging sustainable and affordable housing districts in communities. The laws also increase and enforce housing element requirements, place a bond issue on the next ballot to provide more affordable housing for veterans, and also increase affordable housing funding to make it easier for homeowners to construct second units on their property.
In addition, topics discussed on the show include how the new legislation will affect the City of Pleasanton and what the City plans to do to in the future to comply with state law while also preserving local control.
