Woman Arrested In Connection With Pleasanton Hit-And-Run Crash
Pleasanton police arrested a woman on suspicion of fleeing from the scene of a two-car collision.
PLEASANTON, CA — A woman was arrested this week in connection with a hit and run collision involving two cars, Pleasanton police said.
Sophia Ornelas, 30, was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle felony evading and felony hit-and-run. The occupants of the other vehicle were not seriously injured, police said.
On Thursday around 2:30 p.m., officers located a woman 10 minutes after receiving an alert of stolen truck out of East Palo Alto, the Pleasanton Police Department said in a news release.

Officers spotted the suspected stolen truck traveling westbound on Bernal Avenue in Pleasanton, approaching the I-680. After officers initiated a traffic stop, the driver reported refused to pull over and sped onto the I-680, northbound.
As officers pursued the vehicle, the suspect began driving recklessly on the right shoulder, police said.

Officers canceled the pursuit in the area of West Las Positas Boulevard amid safety reasons. After officers exited at Stoneridge Drive, they saw the stolen truck, which had been involved in the collision.
The driver then fled from the scene, but officers quickly found her hiding in the bushes at a nearby Park & Ride.
