Woman Identified In Fatal Pleasanton Crash

A woman died in a rollover crash that occurred just hours before another deadly crash was reported in the Tri-Valley area.

PLEASANTON, CA — A woman was identified in a deadly rollover car crash in Pleasanton that was reported just hours before another fatal rollover collision in Pleasanton. The two crashes jammed Try-Valley traffic on Friday morning.

Melanie Mouat, 23, of Pleasanton was identified by the Alameda County Coroner's Office.

On Thursday evening, investigators believe the driver of a Toyota Avalon was speeding on West Las Positas Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday when she crashed into a center median curb east of Hopyard Road, causing the car to flip onto the driver's side and crash into a light pole, police said. The light pole caused the car's roof to cave into the passenger side.

The crash prompted the closure of West Las Positas Boulevard from Hopyard Road to Coronado Lane for several hours into Friday morning. Police expected to reopen the road by 12:30 p.m. Friday.

John Reiman, 60, of Dublin died in a crash that was reported at 6 a.m. on Friday, the Alameda County Coroner's Office told Patch. The collision unfolded on southbound Interstate Highway 680, south of Alcosta Boulevard in Dublin, said CHP spokesperson Tyler Hahn in an email.

The driver of a Honda Civic, identified as Reiman, is suspected to have sideswiped a big rig driver in the #4 lane, causing the driver to lose control, cross all lanes of traffic, crash into the center divider and stop sideways in the #1 lane.

The driver of the big rig continued to drive, unaware of the crash, officials said. Moments later, a Ford pickup truck drove into the area and crashed into the Honda, killing Reiman.
