YMCA of the East Bay "You Are the Difference" (DIFFY) Award Program Recognizes Individuals for Service to Many East Bay Nonprofits

The YMCA of the East Bay celebrated volunteerism throughout the East Bay on October 15 with their 135th Annual Meeting & “You Are the Difference” Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony.

Capitalizing on its ongoing volunteerism initiative, the YMCA of the East Bay recognized exemplary volunteers working throughout the region in 2014. The honored individuals have donated their time to a number of East Bay organizations – among them, the Y and its partners.

The program included Bay Area music legend John Santos leading a multi-cultural ensemble of musicians (“The Difference”) as Bay Area media personality Aimee Allison presided as host. This year, the DIFFY award was designed and created by Mario Chiodo: renowned sculptor, artist and Oakland native that also created Oakland’s ‘Remember Them’ sculpture- amongst many others.
