It was a momentous day for the Pleasanton Meadows Sharks at the Tri-Valley Swim League Championships. For the first time in over 10 years, the Sharks finished above seventh place, placing fifth, 11-12 swimmer Nick Tucker broke two league records, the team broke an additional four team records, and approximately 90 percent of their swimmers set personal bests.

Tucker had the best day of any swimmer at the meet, not only did he break league records in the free and the IM, but he won the fly and, along with teammates Daniel Newman, Michael Azuma, and Jack Geasa, took second in the medley relay. Geasa also had quite a meet, setting the team record, and winning, the breaststroke, and finishing second in the backstroke. Then Geasa, along with Newman, Azuma, and Jake Fisher essentially clinched fifth place for the Sharks when they won the 11-12 free relay.

Pleasanton Meadows 11-12 girls didn't let the boys get all the glory; they also set a record when Haley Isaacs swam a 37.88 breaststroke. Her effort was good enough for second place.

The other two team records were set by the youngest and oldest of the Shark girls. The six and under girls free relay team, composed of Samantha Herlic, Courtney Olivier, Sydney Simmons, and Ela Kularni set a team record in the event, finishing third overall; and 15-18 Swimmer Alicia Brown, swimming in her last Shark meet, set the butterfly record finishing in ninth place. Alicia also finished ninth in the backstroke. Olivier also had a great individual meet, taking third in the back and eighth in the fly and Simmons finished fourth in the free and 10th in the fly. While the 6U girls relay team broke a record, the 6U boys team of Jack DuBos, Zach Lem, Haison Park, and Nathan Shinn one upped the girls in terms of placement, getting the wall second.

Trent Pozzi also had an excellent meet, scoring individual seconds in the 7-8 back and free events, a fifth in the fly. He also opened the meet swimming on the third place medley relay team with Joey Herz, Cody Vaeth and Brent Werder. Vaeth also had three top ten individual finishes with sevenths in the fly and free, and an eighth in the breaststroke.  Werder also scored a seventh, just ahead of Vaeth in the breaststroke. Cody's sister Sidney didn't let her little brother get all the glory, she scored a fifth in the IM and a sixth in the free.

Speaking of families, the Geasa family had quite a day. In addition to Jack's performance,  sister Annie (13-14) had a third in the back, a fifth in the fly and an 8th in the IM while little brother Joey (9-10) had a seventh in the free and a ninth in the IM. Alyson Isaacs joined sister Haley in the top 10 three times, scoring a fourth in the free, a seventh in the fly, and a ninth in the IM. Brothers Chris and Michael Azuma also joined the family affair with Chris (13-14) taking eighth in the backstroke and Michael (11-12) taking sixth in the same event and a fourth in the free.  The final family tie was Blake Tucker who joined brother Nick with three top 10 finishes, taking sixth in the 9-10 back, eighth in the IM, and ninth in the free.

Colin Miller was a standout performer for the 13-14 boys with three individual top six swims. He placed fifth in both the IM and the fly and sixth in the free.

Scoring two top ten finishes were Shelby Craig (13-14 girls), seventh in the free and eighth in the fly and Jake Fisher (11-12) eighth in the fly and 10th in the free.

The 6U boys swimmers got a couple more top finishes when Jack DuBos scored a fourth and Haison Park took eighth in the back while 7-8 age group got top placements from  Amelia Kelly (3rd Fly), Ainsley Hasty (10th fly),  Tim Kanarsky (5th breast), and Luke Scanlon (8th back)

In addition to Brown, the oldest swimmers got top 10 finishes from Joey Silva in the free and James Cheney in the breaststroke. Both swimmers placed eighth.

Rounding out the top 10 finishers were Alison Miller who took 10th in the 9-10 free, Talia Florio 10th in the fly, Daniel Newman 9th in the free, and Tyler Rhoads 10th in the fly.

Pleasanton Meadows had two other third place relay teams. Florio, both Isaacs, and Adriana Harris in the 11-12 medley, Craig, Annie Geasa, Dana Long, and Kyra Schwaninger in the 13-14 medley.
