• Arevon Energy's 300 MW Nighthawk battery storage project goes online in Poway, California (energiesmedia.com) — A massive new 300‑MW battery facility is now operating in Poway, promising to bolster regional grid reliability while generating an estimated $30 million in local property tax revenue over its lifetime. The Nighthawk project, using safer LFP battery technology, can power hundreds of thousands of homes during peak demand and brought more than 130 construction jobs plus new partnerships with Poway-area nonprofits.
• Poway Unified relocates Del Sur students to Stone Ranch as crews manage mold, moisture concerns (cbs8.com) — Families in Poway Unified should prepare for Del Sur Elementary students to attend Stone Ranch Elementary from August 24 through at least September 18 while crews finish tackling moisture and mold issues. District officials say extensive cleaning, air treatment and independent testing are underway, and the extra month-long relocation is meant to ensure classrooms are safe before anyone returns.
• Supervisor Joel Anderson hears from Rancho Bernardo, 4S Ranch constituents (sandiegouniontribune.com) — A recent town hall with County Supervisor Joel Anderson touched Poway directly when a constituent cited the city's move to block AI data centers as a model for protecting water supplies. Anderson discussed homelessness programs, wildfire safety, library funding challenges, cannabis policy, and development concerns in nearby Rancho Bernardo and 4S Ranch, urging residents from all communities in his district to stay engaged with his office.
