Foundation Raises $62,000 for Del Sur Elementary School During Annual Event

Each year, the Del Sur Educational Foundation raises funds for Del Sur Elementary School programs at its Casino Night at the Ranch event.

SAN DIEGO (May 22, 2012) – This spring, the Del Sur Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising additional funds for Poway Unified’s Del Sur Elementary School, held its third annual Casino Night at the Ranch fundraiser. With support from family and friends, the Foundation raised $62,000 during the five-hour event.

The event was held at the Platinum-LEED rated Del Sur Ranch House located just blocks from Del Sur Elementary School. During the evening, 215 guests gathered to enjoy gaming, dining, dancing, a live and silent auction and “Gambling with Principal Doug.”

“We raised more than $50,000 at last year’s event and are so appreciative of parents and supporters for helping us raise more than $60,000 this year,” said Shelley Federhart, president of the Foundation. “This annual fundraiser enables us to support several programs at Del Sur Elementary, plus it’s a fun time.”

Funds raised during the event pay for a credentialed teacher who operates a new science and technology program, Engineering is Elementary. Funds also support four impact teachers at Del Sur Elementary who work with students in small groups to help them excel in different academic areas.
