Being in an industry that he fully enjoys has allowed Jim Hoover to survive through the recession.

Hoover, owner of Poway Premium Partners’ winner Poway Irrigation, has been in business for 20 years.

“I went to work for an irrigation manufacturer while I was still in college and I’ve been in the industry ever since,” he said.

Though the challenges he’s faced are comparable to any in the home improvement/construction industry, Hoover said if there’s passion, one will find success.

“If you don’t have a passion for the business that you want to get into, then you shouldn’t be starting out doing it,” he said.
