Best Nail Salon in Poway: Aloha Nails and Spa

Aloha Nails and Spa is the winner of the Poway Premium Partners poll for Best Nail Salon in Poway.

It’s more than just a manicure—it’s art.

That’s what owner Ann Nguyen would say if you asked her.

Nguyen, whose business is the winner for the Best Nail Salon in Poway poll, has owned the salon for 7.5 years, though her history in the beauty industry traces back to her earlier years in Vietnam.

When she arrived in the States, she ultimately chose to open shop in the “City in the Country” because of its small-town feel.

“It is a community of people who care about each other,” she said.

And in the caring community, Nguyen has found success by making quick changes when the recession hit.

“We lowered our prices so our customers could continue to afford to come here,” she said. “Many of them are hard-working and need to be pampered and cared for, if only for an hour or two. My customers are my friends and family and it is important for me to provide them with a break from life challenges. They matter to me and they know I care. I think that has also helped us survive.”

The winning business owner also offered tips for others.

“Anyone with capital can open a business; but in order to keep it open you must give your customers quality service,” she said. “Secondly, I would suggest the importance of truly caring about your customers. The fact we care creates a feeling of home for our customers. We value every person that comes through our door.

“And lastly, you have to be prepared to sacrifice. It takes long hours and dedication to make a business successful. It helps when you love what you do.”
