Best Sushi in Poway: Ichiban Sushi
Ichiban Sushi is the winner of the Poway Premium Partners' poll for Best Sushi in Poway.
Jay Park may have only owned for just a little over a year—but he’s grown it to a success.

Park, who was a sushi chef for eight years before acquiring Ichiban, said he’s overcome many obstacles with owning the winning restaurant.

“It was tough at the beginning to redecorate and remodel. We didn’t have many customers at the beginning since the ownership changed,” said Park, but he noted that things have gotten better in the last five months.
“I have to hire more employees to meet the needs. We are starting to have our own regular customers. Some of them really love our food and our team.”

And despite the economic challenges, Park believes in his product.
“I know it is tough to run a business especially under this economic recession,” he said. “But I believe if I keep it up, people eventually will recognize us and like our food. What people are really looking for is the consistency of keeping good quality and maintaining good service. As we overcome these obstacles, we will be on the top.”
