This three-hour workshop, taught by local musician Chris Stuart, will introduce you to the fundamentals of rhythm guitar playing for traditional bluegrass, old-time and folk repertoire. Topics will include basic chord shapes, alternating bass patterns, boom-chuck and boom-a-chick-a picking patterns, playing in time. Chris will show you how to get the most out of a metronome, proper use of the capo, walking the lines between chords, G-runs, backing-up singers and yourself, and appreciating the role of the guitar in an ensemble.
Prerequisite: you should know basic guitar chords (G, C, D, A, E, F) and be able to change chords smoothly in these basic positions.
Space is limited to 25, we encourage you to pre-register early to reserve your spot.
