• Police hunt sexually violent predator who vanished after GPS 'tamper mode' alert (nypost.com) — San Diego County authorities are searching for a convicted sexually violent predator who removed his GPS monitor and disappeared from a Rancho Bernardo worksite, renewing concerns about state supervision. Poway previously fought a proposal to house him near a local school and park, with Mayor Steve Vaus and residents arguing that transient placement makes it harder for families to track his whereabouts.
