Patch Readers Offer One Last Teaching Moment for Poway's Class of 2011

Patch asked Poway residents to offer some tips for our graduating Class of 2011. Here's what they offered.

Do you remember when you graduated from high school? The feeling of excitement to know you are now an adult with a diploma in hand? Well, 662 Poway High School Titans are currently experiencing those feelings, and with all that's ahead for them—as they either step into the working world, head to boot camp or continue their education—they're overwhelmed with decisions.

That's where Patch readers come in. We asked Patch readers—via Facebook—to offer advice for the Class of 2011. Here's the advice they gave:

Joe Bilotta: Always do what it takes to complete your homework and classwork to the most professional level possible and do your best to always excel in everything you do. Create a business card and start networking early.

Meghan Callahan-Pattison: Remember who you are, be honest, loyal, stay positive, one "yes" was built on many a "no" and always, always be kind to people even if it kills you.

Pamela Goepfert: Be true to yourself and your desires. Follow your own path to happiness and don't let anyone else dictate your course in life. And most importantly, don't upload any photos to Twitter that you would never want your mother to see.

Jennifer Lynn Dye: Live life to the fullest but remember your responsibilities at the same time. Make sure you are asking yourself "How will this help me?" or "Will this hurt my chances of doing what I want in life?" Live for today but don't forget about tomorrow.

Kimberly Smith Carr: Always choose wisely the things you do in life because in the future they will come back to reward, hurt, or haunt you. Do not ever give up on your dreams in life because you can make them reachable. Do not stress on the little things and take time to enjoy life. So to sum it all up "Live, Love, Learn, and Laugh".

Lisa Plume Harvey: Try to be happy, productive, and make the most of what you have. Do things you love, help others, and remember that there will always be ups and down ... the downs will get better and it helps you to appreciate the ups. Keep learning and give your best to the world.

Amber Gimbel: Be courageous in achieving your goals and have a great work ethic.

Sara Nicholson: Embrace all the opportunities that unfold, follow your heart, surround yourself with people who make you think, and don't settle for mediocrity.

Amanda Ann: Continue your education, go to college, and don't settle for anything less than a bachelor's degree.
