Poway City Council Explained Water Bill Credit

"Water customers will see a credit on the bill they receive in March or April," said Nicole Roesler, Poway's Customer Services Supervisor.

The Poway City Council approved extending a bill credit to Poway water customers in response to the state-issued precautionary boil water advisory in late November. The week-long disruption was due to discolored water entering Poway’s drinking water system, though water quality tests confirmed that there had been no health risk posed to water customers.

The water credit will be one-eighth of each water customer’s fixed expense for their bi-monthly bill (roughly equivalent to the length of the advisory), along with one-eighth of the customer’s water consumption during the billing cycle in which the advisory occurred.

“Water customers will see a credit on the bill they receive in March or April,” said Nicole Roesler, Poway’s Customer Services Supervisor. “Because of how the bi-monthly billing cycle works, this is our first opportunity to calculate water consumption for that time period for all of our water customers affected.”
