Election 2017: Prelim Results Show Poway Voters Against Measure A

POWAY, CA – Preliminary results show Poway voters voted against Measure A.

About 61 percent of voters voted against the measure, according to early results from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters. Only 31 percent of precincts are currently being reported.

Measure A would have amended the city's general plan to rezone up to 25 acres of StoneRidge Country Club, clearing the way for the construction of 180 condominiums for residents over 55 years old.

Polls were open until 8 p.m. at 28 locations around Poway. Registered voters unable to make it to a polling place in the city were also able to cast ballots at the Registrar of Voters office in Kearny Mesa.

The city's special election was the only election held in San Diego County.
