Update: Poway Home Damaged in Fire; Man Arrested Amid Struggle

The fire was reported near Robison Boulevard and Pomerado Road late Friday afternoon.

A man who thought his wife might have been in danger was arrested after a fire broke out in a recreational vehicle and spread to a home near the intersection of Robison Boulevard and Pomerado Road around 5:41 p.m. Friday in Poway.

A home next to the vehicle, at 12417 Schaler Dr., was damaged on its side. The fire appeared to burn from the RV and spread to shrubbery alongside the home, before burning the side of the home itself.

A man was arrested and cited for obstruction after ignoring officers' instructions to stay away from the RV, where he believed his wife was, a San Diego County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said.

The woman was not inside, and the man was later cited and released, he said.

Three Bernardo Heights Middle School seventh-graders who were in the area said they saw smoke and a woman with a baby near the scene. Paul Quintana, Grant Clark and Colin Murphy said they saw a man arguing with officers before he was tackled in the street. [See them describe the scene in the attached video.]

Details on the cause of the fire were not immediately available. No one was reported injured.
