Runners Hit the Trail to Raise Money for Classroom Computers

More than 1,000 runners lace 'em up Saturday for a good cause.

The fifth-annual was held Saturday at Lake Poway, drawing runners of all skills and ages to support the Educational Foundation. The funds raised by the run will be used to buy computers for classrooms.

Megan Shirmacher, event director and president of the foundation, said the race gets bigger every year. Proceeds will help the foundation meet its overall fundraising goal, around $120,000.
