Best And Worst California Cities For Driving: LIST

A new report ranked the best and worst cities in the country for driving. California cities topped the list. Did your city make the list?

Driving on California's freeway system during rush hour can be a headache. Ask any Californian. But how does driving in The Golden State compare to driving in other states?

A new report by WalletHub ranked the best and worst cities for driving, and not surprisingly, several California cities came in as the worst places to get behind the wheel.

The study looked at 100 of the most populated cities across the country to determine the best and worst cities for driving, ranking them from best to worst. According to the finance website, the study's authors compared the cities across 25 key metrics, including auto safety, traffic conditions and infrastructure, ownership and maintenance costs, and vehicles and maintenance access.

A total of 17 California cities made the list – the most of any state. Chula Vista and Irvine landed in the better half of the list at the 39th and 45th spots, respectively. The remaining 15 California cities ranked in the bottom 50.

Of the 15 worst-ranked cities overall, 40 percent were in California. In fact, two California cities topped the list. The study found that Oakland and San Francisco are the top two worst cities in the country for driving.

The best city for driving? Corpus Christi, Texas. Gilbert, Arizona; Greensboro, North Carolina; Mesa, Arizona; and El Paso, Texas, also ranked in the top five best cities for driving, respectively, according to the report.
