San Diego County's GDP Falls 2.4 percent
According to a new report, the real GDP fell in 80 percent of the 366 metropolitan areas.
San Diego County's gross domestic product fell by 2.4 percent between 2008 and 2009, reflecting the national average, according to a new report.
The San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos metropolitan area's GDP in 2009 was $171.4 billion, ranking 16th in the United States, according to the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis. In 2008, the figure was $172.4 billion, according to the BEA.
Adjusted for inflation to 2005 dollars, the totals were $155.9 billion in 2009 and $159.7 billion in 2008.

The report also stated most of the region's decline in economic output was due to a drop in the construction trades, along with dips in manufacturing, and wholesale and retail sales.
Nationally, the real GDP fell in 80 percent of the 366 metropolitan areas studied, led by declines in manufacturing, construction and business services.
