"If anyone wanted to open something like this, they'd go downtown to do it but we wanted to do it in Poway," said co-owner Eric Paterson. "We wanted to fill a niche in Poway."

The restaurant, owned by Paterson, a 12-year resident of Poway, and Emilio Savoji, a 17-year-resident of Poway, recently opened its doors in the former O'Harley's Sports Bar and Grill location near the DMV after about two months of revamp.

And, although the owners say the economy has challenged them in opening a new business, they're confident they'll succeed.

"You can get any kind of food—from sandwiches to pasta to a hamburger," said Savoji, who trained as a chef in Italy and owned two restaurants in downtown San Diego. "You get the top quality of food for the mildest price."

But the restaurant is offering more than good prices and food, said Paterson.

Paterson said the central location of the restaurant and its long hours (7 a.m. to midnight every day) will serve Poway well.

"We're right in between of everything and we have breakfast, lunch, dinner and a sports bar and it's something we need in this area," Paterson said. "It's the all-American sports bar."

Paterson and Savoji, who met when both of them showed an interest in purchasing O'Harley's, said they also plan to hold fun events including a "Bacon on Everything Night" and "Nachos Night," mixed with live music, DJs and trivia.

On top of that, Paterson plans to involve the entire city of Poway by organizing a "Poway Treasure Hunt" in which he hides an envelope in the city once a month and whoever redeems the envelope wins a prize from Blue Frog's. It will also allow Powegians to learn more about the community, he said.

"I want the community to be involved," Paterson said. "I want it to be nice a place for people to come and have a drink."
