• Premium gas at $5.89 per gallon in Monterey County in week ending Sept. 19 (montereytimes.com) — Prunedale drivers are seeing some of Monterey County's steep premium gas prices, with the lowest reported local rate at $6.49 per gallon during the week ending September 19. A GasBuddy survey shows countywide premium prices averaging $6.54, slightly above the California average, as global oil markets, refinery issues, and seasonal demand continue to push fuel costs higher.
