Lake Sutherland Fishing Season Begins
A crowd of people were there at opening day, seeking "the big one."
Lake Sutherland opened March 5 for the 2011 fishing season. Fishermen were lined up the day before the gates were due to open one-half hour before sunrise.
A total of 80 people turned out over the weekend, reeling in four bass that were keepers -- the largest weighing 5.7 pounds -- and doing catch-and-release for 114 other bass.
The lake is open until sunset on Saturdays and Sundays for lake fishing and on Mondays for shore fishing only. Boat rentals are not available but private boats can be launched on the weekends.
