A predawn fight in Ramona between two men over a woman escalated Tuesday into a shooting that left one wounded, authorities said.
RAMONA, CA — A predawn fight in Ramona between two men over a woman escalated Tuesday into a shooting that left one of the romantic rivals wounded and the other facing possible criminal charges, according to authorities.
The pair was arguing outside a home in the 400 block of Pala Street about 4:15 a.m. when the dispute turned physical, sheriff's Lt. Ken Jones said.
During the scuffle, one of the men pulled a handgun and shot the other one, he said.

Medics airlifted the 24-year-old victim to a hospital for treatment of a bullet wound to his left leg. The victim was expected to survive.
The case remained under investigation Tuesday afternoon, Jones said. The 26-year-old suspected assailant, who lives at the home where the shooting occurred, was detained for questioning, then released pending further investigation.
