Sheriff's Volunteers to be Recognized at Padres Game

San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore considers more than 900 volunteers within the agency as "most valuable players."

Now, these MVPs will be honored in a major league way by another winning team, the San Diego Padres, during First Responders Appreciation Night.

The celebration will take place before the San Diego Padres vs. Kansas City Royals game at Petco Park on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Among those being honored during the special pre-game ceremony are members of the Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol (SVP), Explorers (teenage volunteers), Search and Rescue (SAR), Dive Unit, Chaplains, Reserves and Off Road Enforcement Team (ORET).

Sheriff Gore will throw the first pitch of the game, as well as join the volunteers on the field to thank them for all of their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
