ActivCare at 4S Ranch, a specialized residential community for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or related dementia is breaking ground in 4S Ranch this Spring. Located at the intersection of Rancho Bernardo Road and Dove Canyon Road, ActivCare at 4S Ranch will offer private and semi-private accommodations for up to 60 individuals with memory loss. The new senior community is slated to open in Spring 2016.

As the Baby Boomer Generation ages, it is estimated that 10,000 people per day are turning 65 in the U.S. This trend will continue through 2030. The County of San Diego reports that today 60,000 county residents have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia. With the significant growth in the older population, that number will nearly double in the next 15 years. In the county, Alzheimer’s disease is the third leading cause of death. Nearly one of every three people over the age of 85 dies with Alzheimer’s or some form dementia.

Once fully operational, the community will employ 50 full- and part-time associates.”

* A licensed nurse is scheduled onsite 24 hours a day (a rarity in care facilities)
* Assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming
* Medication management

* Special services and activities such as inter-generational programming, a sports green in the courtyard, and special social events that involve family and friends.
