CHP Makes 57 DUI Arrests Over Memorial Day Weekend in San Diego County
The number of arrests was down from last year, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SAN DIEGO, CA: There were no traffic fatalities during the Memorial Day weekend in the San Diego area, making it two years in a row without a local road death during the summer season-opening holiday, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.
On the DUI enforcement front, CHP officers jailed 57 motorists for allegedly driving while intoxicated on area roads from 6 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Monday. Over the comparable period last year, the agency made 79 arrests of drivers suspected of being inebriated.
Statewide, 39 people died in vehicle crashes during the 78-hour time span this year, eight more than on the Memorial Day weekend in 2015, and the CHP made 1,065 DUI arrests, 60 fewer than last year.
